When you think about exercise equipment, you might only consider the health benefits that you can get from exercise, but did you know that there are tens of thousands of children being hurt in their home every year because of exercise equipment? If you have some type of exercise equipment in your home, or even a personal gym, here are some things to keep in mind to keep your children safe.
Don’t ever let young children use exercise equipment unsupervised. You should make sure that the equipment is shut off so that they can’t activate it on their own. Put away any weights or similar objects that can pose a trip hazard, and store weights in secure racks that can’t tip over. There should be a dead man switch on your equipment to make it stop in case someone was to trip or have a medical emergency while using it. Just keeping these things in mind will make it less likely for someone to get hurt in your gym.
