When you get home after a long day at work, you really want some peace and quiet in your home. Unfortunately, that is not always the experience in some homes. It could be that the house is located in a neighborhood where there is a lot of noise outside, or it could be that the home is very noisy. For homes that are poorly insulated, noise will travel straight through the walls. The same methods that work for improving your insulation against the outside temperature will also block out sound. This means that insufficient insulation in the walls, compressed insulation, double pane windows where the seal has failed and many other situations will make it easier for sounds from the outside to travel into your home. If the problem is from the inside of your home, it could be due to pipes that aren’t firmly attached, older appliances or again, insufficient insulation. All these problems can be solved with some work, so that your home can be a haven of peace and quiet.
