Few things are as frustrating as a shower drain that runs slowly. It will turn your shower from a relaxing morning ritual to a major annoyance. Not to mention that the water rising around your feet isn’t going to be the cleanest. While some might freak out and call a plumber immediately, it is possible that you could fix the problem yourself. It is better to avoid any type of drain chemicals since they could damage your pipes and your septic system. What you can use is a sewer snake. If you don’t have one available, a metal hanger might work, but you should make sure that you are careful when using this so as to not damage your pipes. Another option is to use a plunger, but you have to be careful with this as well since you don’t want to exert too much pressure on the pipes.
If the clog is mostly made up of soap, there is a possibility that pouring very hot water down the drain can help it dissolve on its own, but many times it is mixed up with hair, making it much harder to deal with.
